Well i got in touch with the U.S. consulate for Germany in NYC yesterday and he forwarded me to two first class Lt.'s since it regards the military. I've since then emailed them and asked them if it was ok if I could send them questions for my grad project. I am now writing my paper and working on my action plan.

THE LAST TIME!!!

I switched my question for the last time, im doing U.S. bases in Germany, then and now. Basically, im saying alot of the bases from Post WWII and Cold War were used for U.S. military. They did give alot of civilians jobs though, but since then nearly 150 have closed and been turned into something to benefit the civilians or local government.

Today...

today I met with Mr. Hamilton and found a government document I could read at the Oakland library. I also found a book that might be helpful but I'm not exactly sure yet. Over the weekend I am going to try to go to the north hills recruiting office for the army and see if he can direct me to someone I can interview.

FOCUS!

I am changing the focus of my project. The main question was US foreign military bases, are the necessary. This is a very broad subject that could go on forever. So I am switching to US Army bases in Europe, are they necessary. This isn't a drastic change seeing as a lot of my notes were about the US Army.

Ugh....

Well over the break I tried to keep in contact with the military and see if I can get information from them. I got stonewalled and got nothing from them, not even a reply. So I am going to take a different approach to get the information I need by trying to contact some of our government leaders. Right now I am feeling good about people I can interview because I have a Sargent and I want to get either a Cornell or a general as well.

Its been a while...

Its been a few days since I've posted...since then ive organized my foundation question with some notes, working on my thesis statement, and reading the DoD pdf file i found on the internet. I found out that ths U.S. currently has over 1000 bases overseas. And random bases keep popping up out of nowhere, they were kept secretive until some of them had problems or messed up.

Notes

I took some notes today to answer my foundation questions. Found a document from 2005 that was issued by DoD so I can compare/contrast the one i found friday as well.

Friday, June 19, 2009

BLAH BLAH

Today I organize most of my stuff, and I got a .pdf file off the internet. It was issued by the DoD (Department of Defense) that shows the different bases and the amount of land they take up. This will be very very useful.

New Question

So I asked my teacher to see her 10,000 project ideas book. I was looking through it and a project caught my eye. Why United States military bases around the world a re in jeopardy, do we still need them?

I've looked at some sites about it and this is my new question. That's if i can find a way to become involved in it.

Dont want this question

Not to sure if I still want to do that question. I don't believe there's a way I could research and test them accurately and neither of them have enough websites/resources that I can study.

Question

I believe today I found out which question I want to pursue my graduation project on. I'm currently an intern at Viz, a company that makes programs. A part of their program is about emergency response. My question is Which program would be better, CoMotion or the Pittsburgh current program.

I emailed a few executives to find out exactly which program they used and how to get it.

Grad Project Intro

  • The grad project is one of the most important projects at City Charter High School. It shows what you have learned over the years and how you apply it. People who have done and presented their grad project told me that it wasn't as bad as everyone makes it seem. All you have to do is complete your work and finish the project.
  • I want to do my project around Firefighting, or the Firefighter Union
  • Presenting, I can get nervous and I turn red fast.
