Today...

today I met with Mr. Hamilton and found a government document I could read at the Oakland library. I also found a book that might be helpful but I'm not exactly sure yet. Over the weekend I am going to try to go to the north hills recruiting office for the army and see if he can direct me to someone I can interview.

FOCUS!

I am changing the focus of my project. The main question was US foreign military bases, are the necessary. This is a very broad subject that could go on forever. So I am switching to US Army bases in Europe, are they necessary. This isn't a drastic change seeing as a lot of my notes were about the US Army.

Ugh....

Well over the break I tried to keep in contact with the military and see if I can get information from them. I got stonewalled and got nothing from them, not even a reply. So I am going to take a different approach to get the information I need by trying to contact some of our government leaders. Right now I am feeling good about people I can interview because I have a Sargent and I want to get either a Cornell or a general as well.

Final Day

Today is the last day of the Trimester, I have done a lot over the past few weeks and I sent a letter and called the Department of Defense to try and get an interview with someone. Over break I'll update my blog with major things over break and until i have it again.

Well I haven't posted in a while. I've been reading some of the articles I found and have had no luck finding a book on this subject. I am still looking though.

Its been a while...

Its been a few days since I've posted...since then ive organized my foundation question with some notes, working on my thesis statement, and reading the DoD pdf file i found on the internet. I found out that ths U.S. currently has over 1000 bases overseas. And random bases keep popping up out of nowhere, they were kept secretive until some of them had problems or messed up.

3. How many other countries does the U.S. have bases in?
4. How much money is spent a year funding the military?
5. How much money is spent on foreign bases?
6. Where the most bases are stationed, overall?
7. Where are the most Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force bases?
8. What makes the bases in jeopardy?
9. How can we solve this?
10. How much money is spent on one base?
11. How much land does the U.S. have for bases?

I took some notes today to answer my foundation questions. Found a document from 2005 that was issued by DoD so I can compare/contrast the one i found friday as well.

Today I organize most of my stuff, and I got a .pdf file off the internet. It was issued by the DoD (Department of Defense) that shows the different bases and the amount of land they take up. This will be very very useful.

I finished my proposal yesterday, turned it in today. May have found an action plan but not 100% sure yet
